Tasting: Raúl Pérez is considered one of the icon winemakers of Spain’s northwest, learning from one of the pioneers of the resurgence of Bierzo (as well as, and more famously, Priorat) Álvaro Palacios, Raúl’s name is now synonymous with Bierzo. From the La Vizcaína range, each wine is named after the single vineyard from which the fruit originates. La del Vivo is a benchmark Godello for the region, concentrated, and refined, a nose of mango skin, bay leaf and citrus, with muscular yet elegant palate of tangerine peel, fresh grapefruit, caraway, graphite with an exceptionally long finish.
