Tasting: From the north of the Navarra region, the first wine in the Las Fincas series, a collaboration with renowned Basque chef Juan Mari Arzak. A wonderfully delicate and silky rosado. Aromas of pink blossom and red berries roll into a palate of freshly picked wild strawberries, minerals and fresh, crisp acidity.

Las Fincas Fermentado en Barrica 2020

Tasting: The third in the series of Las Fincas wines in partnership with renowned Basque chef Juan Mari Arzak. This is a limited production, extremely premium rosado made from the very best Garnacha fruit from their Finca de Legardeta vineyard. Fermented in new French oak to build breadth and texture, aging in French oak on lees after fermentation also assists this. Elegant aromas of white fruit and pink blossom, and a palate of delicately scented raspberries, mountain herbs, smoke accented minerals, with a delicious strawberries and cream texture.

Lalomba 2020

Tasting: Bodegas Ramón Bilbao’s super premium rosado with fruit exclusively from their Lalinde vineyard. A decidedly textural rosado thanks to aging on lees, a fine nose of red berry accented pear flesh with mountain flowers greets the drinker before the palate reveals just ripe red berry fruit, nuances of minerals, slate and white apricot, with a lick of fresh acidity to round things out.

Supernova Rosat 2019

Tasting: Tomeu Llabrés' Ca'n Verdura project aims to reinvigorate plantings of indigenous Mallorcan varieties that have lost ground on the island to French varieties such as Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. This textural and charming rosado is made from Mallorcan native grape Mantonegro, herb accented red berries and apricot skin on the nose, the palate, all fresh strawberries and light cashew, with graphite minerality and a slight note of peach kernel and salinity.

Ostatu 2022

Tasting: High altitude, bush trained vineyards, organically farmed and certified by the Basque Organic Regulatory Council. A lighter style rosado made in the Provençal style, but perhaps with a little more interest and character. Zippy and fresh, with red berries, light white peach, mountain herbs and blossom. Summer in a bottle!

Mélangé Clarete 2018

Tasting:  Interesting doesn’t cover this wine well enough! This is a style of pink wine (thought to be the original) created by co-fermenting white and red grapes together. An exquisite, elegant and intoxicating perfume of white fruit, peach, citrus, orange peel, and subtle notes of nuts. On the palate, it is fresh, with marked acidity, white fruit, citrus, and a saline finish with underlying mineral length. Grown organically and bottled un-fined and unfiltered with no added sulphur.

Señorio de Sarría 2019

Tasting: D.O. Navarra has always been the traditional heartland of full bodied, rich Spanish Rosado, but with consumers wanting lighter styles, some producers have adapted. The Señorio de Sarría, nods its head to crisper, lighter styles such as those from Provence, but still has delicious texture. Notes of red berries and rose petals on the nose, with a palate of lychees, green strawberries and grapefruit.

Gaintza Txakolina Rosado 2019

Tasting: The traditional wines of the Basque country often have an intriguing prickle to them due to being rested on lees after fermentation in an anaerobic environment at low temperatures. A wonderfully expressive nose of blossom and wet stones leads to a palate of wild strawberry, cherries and sea sprayed cranberries, rounded off deliciously with crisp acidity and the aforementioned slight spritz.

Gran Feudo Rosado 2019

Tasting: The traditional stye of rosado in Spain, and specifically Navarra has always been full bodied and fruit driven, and this doesn’t necessarily mean that wine is sweeter just because it is darker, generally it will have more body, texture and fruit because the deeper colour has come from longer contact with the grape skins, and this is a prime example of this traditional style. Condensed red fruit, strawberry, red apple and a dash of mountain herbs.

Sumarocca Gran Brut Cava Rosat  

Tasting: Bodegas Sumarocca farm their 400 hectares 100% organically and are certified by the Catalunyan regulatory authority. Strawberries and cream abound in this deliciously crisp yet textural cava. Fresh baked croissant combines with soft, fresh strawberry and raspberry fruit.

Kπ Rosado 2017

Tasting: From Sierra de Gredos natural wine maestro Daniel V. Ramos, a self-described ‘Span-Aussie’ (born in Australia to Spanish parents, then grew up in Madrid). The nose opens with an oxidative, warm apple cider note, before becoming all about the red fruit. Lovely texture on the palate, mouth-filling but not cloying, red berry fruit, rose water, tangerine skin and cinnamon. Bottled un-fined and unfiltered with no added sulphur.
