Abrí las Alas Tinto Fino 2015
Tasting: The outstanding wines of Alejandro Moyano are as poetic to drink as the labels and their names would suggest. An award-winning winery, self-sufficient and completely off the electricity and water supplies vinifies the organically grown Tinto Fino – the local name for Tempranillo – with the minimum of handling. Abrí Las Alas – I Opened the Wings – is the pinnacle of Alejandro’s wines, to anyone serious about Spanish wine, this is a future contender with neighbour Vega Sicilia’s legendary Unico. This wine is simply a work of art, a refined nose of black fruit, cedar and spice, the palate, intense, expressive, explosive and yet, defined, restrained and poised all at the same time. Rich muscular, concentrated fruit, black raspberry, plum jam, forest berries and sun ripened ripe strawberry fruit, herbaceous notes, graphite minerality and length they will stay with you into your dreams at night!
