Tasting: Raúl Pérez is considered one of the icon winemakers of Spain’s northwest, learning from one of the pioneers of the resurgence of Bierzo, Álvaro Palacios, Raúl’s name is now synonymous with Bierzo. The fruit for this wine comes from the village of Valtuille de Abajo, the nose shows aromas of honey, jasmine and grapefruit blossom, the palate, rich and sumptuous, but kept in check by delicate acidity, shows grapefruit citrus, buttered toasted bread, and hints of smoke, with an incredibly long finish.
