Located in the foothills of the Pyrenees, in the north of Aragón, Edra farm syrah, merlot, cabernet sauvignon, garnacha and viognier among others. The floors of their vineyards are covered in a vegetative layer that creates organic matter and competes with the vines for water, meaning they root deeper in search of the water and nutrients they require, Alejandro (Alex) states that this gives their wines their characteristic mineral qualities.
 
Alex cultivates his vineyards in respect to nature, he describes them as an oasis in the middle of cereal crops and almond trees, co-cultivated to increase biodiversity in the vineyards.
 
Wines are released under the VdlT of Ribera del Gállego - Cinco Villas and Alex describes their making as only having three ingredients - grapes, wood and time.

In the municipality of La Hoya (Huesca),small winery Bodegas Edra made with IGP Ribera del Gallego - Cinco Villas, the wine Edra Grullas Paso, a red wine oak own vineyards located in the Pre-Pyrenees of Aragon.

The blend is still a selection of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo and Garnacha.

Activities in the vineyard always develop in a respectful way with the environment, doing all the work manually without using chemicals or aggressive elements. The vineyards are surrounded by fields of legumes and alfalfa.

Selected grapes are separately vinifica fermentations in stainless steel at a controlled temperature and delestages newspapers to extract maximum pigmentation and phenolic components of the skins. Red wine Edra Grullas Paso 2016 Ribera del Gallego makes raising 4 months in barrels of French and American oak which are made “batonnage” with addition of lees. the blend is made and bottled.

The name of this wine, Step cranes, He wants to remember the presence in the vineyards of these migratory birds when they take a short break before resuming forces on their journey from north to south.

Nose: pleasant aromatic expression intensity, the complexity of each of the four varieties. Tasty and juicy fruit appears intermingled with creamy notes of wood, multiple spicy notes (cocoa, vanilla, nuts). Friendly understory and balsamic background fresh.
Mouth: Fresh attack, soft and with a good sense of juicy fruit & tasty tannins.


The winery:

The vineyard EDRA It is located in the town of Ayerbe, Pre-Pyrenees of Huesca, Spain. Protected Geographical Indication of Ribera del Gállego.

On a draining soil and calcareous clay, Edra recovers a tradition torpid, where the vines densely planted with Syrah, Merlot, Tempranillo, Grenache, Viognier and Parraleta, inter occur between 1,5 and 2 Kg per vine.

The vineyard floor is covered with topsoil that holds moisture, It generates organic matter and competes with strains.
