Tasting: The wines of Pérez Barquero are not technically Sherry due to not being made in D.O. Jerez, they are ‘Sherry-style’ wines, and being made from the grape Pedro Ximénez offer a different and very interesting take on the style to the wines of Jerez. A subtle, elegant and focused nose. It’s an Amontillado of finesse, with biological, salty notes and roasted almonds, close to the Fino character. The palate shows a medium-bodied wine of a velvety texture, fine acidity and clean, focused flavours. It represents superb value for the quality it delivers.
